Mission GIVE supports service members on Giving Tuesday
ALBANY, Ga. – Today is Giving Tuesday, after shopping for yourself or loved ones on Cyber Monday, this is the day to focus on helping others or supporting a charity.
And, America’s four military aid societies are raising funds to support our service members.
“Giving Tuesday came about because of had some kind of relationship with Black Friday. Black Friday is, of course, a big shopping day, but Giving Tuesday is a way to give back to those that do wonderful things for this nation, in my opinion. But, we are joining together. So, the Ford Society’s about three years ago we started this Giving Tuesday campaign. It was originally called The Battle for Bragging Rights, where we kind of battled each other to see who could raise more money to support the troops that do the hard work of the station and that are deployed a lot a lot of times in combat zones. But, it was to bring in funds to support them,” said Robert R. Ruark, retired Marine Corps Lieutenant General.
