Ribbon cutting ceremony of Worth Co. Stadium at Milt Miller Field

SYLVESTER, Ga. – Worth County scores big as the community huddles together for the grand reveal of the county’s new stadium.

City officials, fans, and future gridiron stars gathered for the ceremonial ribbon cutting of Milt Miller Stadium – a field ready to offer more than just touchdowns and tackles.

“I think it’s going to have a huge impact for the community. We’ve designed this stadium to be interactive with the community. Actually, the cafeteria that you were in earlier is going to be used for community events as well and we designed it as such. The west side of the stadium with the concession stand and restrooms. All of that is a 21st century facilities so that our fans can enjoy the ballgame as well as good concession stands and knowing they have a nice, clean, cool place to go as a restroom,” said Nehemiah Cummings, Worth Co. Schools Superintendent.

This state-of-the-art facility offers more than just a field for game day. With a modern concessions area, spacious fieldhouse, and a community cafeteria, it’s built to serve both fans and players.

For the athletes, the facility features roomy locker rooms and a fully equipped laundry room—ready to clean uniforms after each hard-fought day on the field.

Worth County Schools Superintendent Nehemiah Cummings shares the story behind bringing this facility to life.

“I’ve been here for four years, and I know that when I was hired, I was told it was a priority to get a new fieldhouse at the stadium here, as well as new restrooms and concession area. Day one, I’d began working on that goal. Before I got here, though, the foundation had been laid as far as the plans financially. So, we just continue to be good stewards of our money. There is no new money in these buildings, they are paid for. No tax increase tied to this. All of that money was raised and saved over the years through good decisions,” said Cummings.

From blueprints to breaking ground, this facility stands as a testament to dedication and teamwork.

Superintendent Nehemiah Cummings reflects on the collaborative effort that turned this vision into a reality.

“I’ve worked in other communities, obviously, through the years. But, one thing I can say about Worth County and Sylvester, as we truly all do work together, it really is a community beyond just the cliche. Mrs. Karen Rackley, who was the chamber president. She is just instrumental in getting us all together and us all working from the same sheet of music, if you will,” said Cummings.
