Albany Fire Department responds to two structure fires over New Years weekend

ALBANY, Ga. – City officials said that fire crews with the Albany Fire Department (AFD) responded to multiple fire responses including two structure fires over New Years weekend.

On New Year’s Eve, AFD responded to a residential structure fire at 412 Poinciana Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered approximately 50% of the home engulfed in flames. Officials said all occupants had safely exited the home before fire crews arrived. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.

On Friday night, AFD responded to a structure fire at 1609 Owens Avenue, Apartment A. Fire crews discovered major damage in the kitchen area of the unit. When fire crews arrived, all occupants had safely exited the structure. No injuries were reported.
