Fire on Shiloh Road in Americus leaves one dead and one injured

AMERICUS, Ga. – According to our news partners with the Americus Times-Recorder,

At approximately 12:54 a.m., Sumter County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire with possible entrapment at a residence located on Shiloh Road in Sumter County.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy fire conditions coming from the residence. Firefighters immediately initiated fire suppression efforts and conducted a primary search of the structure. During the search, one victim was located inside the residence and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second occupant was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. No additional information regarding their condition is available at this time.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Fire investigators are on scene and will continue their investigation to determine the origin and cause of the incident.
