Electric Vehicle Training courses beginning Spring Semester at Albany Technical College

ALBANY, Ga. – Albany Technical College will launch new Electric Vehicle (EV) and Hybrid Training courses beginning Spring Semester 2026 as part of its Automotive Technology program. Classes for the Spring term begin January 12, 2026. Prospective students interested in working with the next generation of automotive technology can visit albanytech.edu to begin the application process online and secure their spot.

The new EV curriculum is designed to prepare students to safely and effectively service hybrid and electric vehicles, focusing on high-voltage systems, diagnostics, battery technology, and emerging industry standards. By offering EV coursework in Southwest Georgia, Albany Technical College is aligning its programs with the rapidly changing automotive landscape and the growing demand for highly skilled, EV-ready technicians among dealerships, fleets, and industry partners across the state and region.

“Albany Technical College remains committed to offering programs that match where the industry is going, not where it has been,” said Albany Technical College President Dr. Emmett Griswold.  “By expanding our Automotive Technology program to include hybrid and electric vehicle training, we are equipping students with relevant, advanced skills that support Georgia’s role in the transportation and manufacturing economy while creating new opportunities for families right here in Southwest Georgia.”

James Miller, Program Chair and Automotive Technology Instructor, emphasized the importance of hands-on, high-tech preparation. “Today’s vehicles are computers on wheels, and electric and hybrid systems are now part of the service work,” Miller said.  “Our students will train in a modern lab environment using current technology, safety practices, and diagnostic tools so they can walk into any shop, dealership, or fleet operation ready to contribute on day one.”

Individuals interested in enrolling in the Spring 2026 Automotive Technology program with EV and hybrid training should apply early by visiting albanytech.edu and completing the online application process. The month of November offers a waived application fee at the college so now is the time to start that application process.
