Body found burned beyond recognition in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Police Department is currently investigating the discovery of an unidentified deceased individual found in a wooded area today, in the 2800 block of Rosebrier Avenue.

At approximately 7:00 A.M., officers responded to a call regarding a body possibly being located in the area. Upon arrival, investigators discovered the remains of a severely burned individual. Due to the condition of the remains, identifying features are limited at this time.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau, in partnership with The Dougherty County Coroner’s Office and The Albany Fire Department, is actively working to determine the individual’s identity and the circumstances surrounding their death.
