Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announces record early voting turnout; emergency precinct locations in Atkinson Co. & Lowndes Co.

ATLANTA, Ga. – We’re less than two weeks away from Election Day, and early Georgia ballots are coming in at an astonishing rate.

Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger announced this morning that as of noon today, more than two million early ballots had been cast across the Peach State.

This amount is nearly double that of the 2020 General Election, where reportedly over a million votes were cast.

CBS 44 News spoke exclusively with Raffensperger about the projected turnout by the time early voting ends on Friday, November 1st.

“Our best guess on that was probably pushing about 3.9 million ballots that will be voting early, say another 200,000 that actually come back in on the absentee (ballots). So, we’ll be, you know, at about 4.1, maybe 4.2 million. And, then, layer on top of that Election Day voting. That could be another 1 to 1.2 million. So, we’ll be around. We should be over 5 million, like 5.1 million, 5.3 million, maybe even 5.4 (million),” said Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State.

Raffensperger also announced the second audit of Georgia’s voter rolls, in which 20 non-citizens were removed and forwarded to their respective county’s District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

And… the Secretary of State’s Office has emergency precinct locations in place, for those still impacted by Hurricane Helene in Atkinson, Columbia and Lowndes counties.
