Sen. Ossoff delivering federal funding to Flint River Fresh

ALBANY, Ga. – A Dougherty County school is going to be getting an increase in their student agriculture programs thanks to some federal funding.

Flint River Fresh will receive $269,000 in federal funding from bipartisan legislature.

The money will be used to support the Farm to School program with the Dougherty County School System, in order to increase access to fresh produce across the district.

Flint River Fresh’s “Farmer Fredo” met with us Thursday afternoon to talk about the funding.

Senator Jon Ossoff’s office had previously secured funding for Flint River Fresh in 2022 to help expand their community farms.

“So, we utilize this to train people on how to grow food for themselves, and we also use this as an opportunity that we can replicate, demonstrate, and showcase to other school systems that surround Dougherty county,” said Flint River Fresh’s “Farmer Fredo” Fredando Jackson.
