APD to host Crime Scene 101 for ASU students

ALBANY, Ga. – Speaking of upcoming events, the Albany Police Department (APD) is gearing up for one of their biggest hands-on learning experiences of the year…

The department will be hosting their Crime Scene 101 class for Albany State University (ASU) students this weekend.

The course will take a look at the forensic nature of investigations for those enrolled in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice programs.

APD Crime Scene Technician Deandra Francis spoke with us Friday morning about just how different these investigations are from what you see on TV.

“…Anything you’ve seen with criminal investigation, it’s not real. It’s very hyped, and dramatic. And, what we do in real life, it translates over to the courtroom. And, that’s not good. So, we want people to understand reality versus fiction; what we see on TV,” said Deandra Francis, Crime Scene Technician, APD.

The class is limited to fifteen Albany State students.
