The board announced this decision was made based on new information as part of an ongoing investigation.

Stone had already announced he would retire in 2024 after questions were raised about social media posts he made showing students and stakeholders.

Board chair Jonathan Jones stressed that the decision of the board did not reflect the opinions or actions of acting superintendent Dr. Jerry Baker or the incoming superintendent Natalie Gore, as neither had been involved in last year’s events.
