“We tried to decide what have we not seen a lot of, it was a casino night. We did our first one last year, it is really popular, so we to do it again. Black Jack Black Rhino, it was a catchy name, but it has a much deeper meaning,” said Morgan Burnett, Director of Chehaw Park & Zoo.

But, what exactly is the purpose that gives this fundraiser a deeper meaning?

Morgan Burnette, the director of Chehaw Park & Zoo, explains that the fundraiser carries a more profound purpose.

“The goal is to not only be a fundraiser for operations here at Chehaw, but it’s to raise awareness for the blight of rhinos in the wild. There are only 6,000 black rhinos in the wild, and we have one of them here at the park. Our zoo keepers and staff got really connected to this animal. The goal is to make sure that people feel that connection when they visit. So that they not only want to come see Sam Houston here, but they want to save his cousins in the wild as well,” said Morgan Burnett, Director of Chehaw Park & Zoo.

Proceeds from this event benefit Chehaw Park & Zoo and the work they do with black rhinos both in the park and in the wild.
