Phoenix at Albany holds 9/11 remembrance ceremony to honor veterans
ALBANY, Ga. – The Phoenix at Albany gather together in remembrance of 9/11 and to celebrate their hometown heroes.
Members of the Phoenix gathered around the flagpole for the lowering and raising of the flag, not only to honor the lives of those who were lost to 9/11, but to also show appreciation for the veterans present amongst them.
“For us here at phoenix we treasure each and every single one of our veterans. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be able to live the enriched lives that we live on a day to day basis. It’s very important to us that we honor our local heroes that are in house. We do that by offering a 5% discount off of their rent, because we want to give back to those that gave to us,” said Rina Pope, Phoenix, Executive Director.
The staff of the Phoenix unveiled their own Veterans Pub and passed out certificates of appreciation to honor those residents at the Phoenix who served the country.
“We also wanted to honor 9/11 and then unveil our Veterans Pub. It is very important to us that not only do we honor our local veterans, but their pictures are also displayed in a location that is special for them,” she said.
