Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter celebrates 96th birthday

PLAINS, Ga. – One of Georgia’s most famous residents is celebrating her birthday today.

Former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter is celebrating her 96th birthday Friday.

The Rosalynn Carter Institute of Caregivers has events planned for Saturday to highlight two of the former First Lady’s passions.

The first being a screening of a movie that follows the lives of caregivers.

The second happening Saturday morning at the Rosalynn Carter Childhood Garden where monarch butterflies will be released.

We caught up with the Carter Foundation about celebrating the good during what’s been a difficult time for the Carter family.

Dr. Jennifer Olsen, CEO of Rosalynn Carter Institute of Caregivers talks about how residents of Plains and the Carters’ plan to celebrate her special day.

Festivities will begin at Plains High School Friday evening.
