Americus Chief of Police Mark Scott installed as President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police

Chief Scott is a 34-year police veteran and has served as the Americus Police Chief for the past seven years.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) is proud to announce Americus Police Chief, Mark Scott, was sworn in as the GACP President on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

Americus Investigating Series Of Shootings

Chief Scott is a 34-year police veteran and has served as the Americus Police Chief for the past seven years. Prior to assuming command at Americus Police Department, he served as a Deputy Chief with the Albany Police Department for six years and Captain with the Thomasville Police Department for 10 years.

Chief Scott holds a Master of Science in Sociology from Valdosta State University and a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University. In addition, he is a graduate of 194th Session of the FBI National Academy, as well as the 23rd Session of the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Command College.

Mark and his wife, Julie, are active members of Central Baptist Church in Americus. They have three children and, most importantly, six grandchildren with number seven on the way.
