“Good Life Family Fun Fest” brings plant-based food & fitness to The Good Life City

*FREE* community event promotes healthy eating & wellness for the entire family.

ALBANY, Ga. – Commissioner Demetrius Young would like everyone to help spread the word about the Good Life Family Health Fest happening this weekend.

July 29 Good Life Family Health Fest

“Good Life Family Health Fest” is a FREE event on Saturday, July 29th, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at The CW Health Park & JC Odom Wellness Center, 1100 N. Jordan Street in Albany, GA. This FREE event will encourage families to participate in fitness demos, try plant-based meals, and learn how to prepare healthier food options. There will be FREE food and beverages from local vendors and the popular Atlanta-based restaurant Slutty Vegan, plus fitness instructors, health screenings, games, back-to-school supplies for children, FREE giveaways, and more. Musical guests include
“The Family” and Albany’s own Cornelius Drake.

Dr. Samara Sterling of Veggie & Soul is dedicated to reversing disease and improving health outcomes in underserved communities. She shares, “People are dying from diseases that are preventable every single day and we know that Black adults have the highest risk, especially in the South.” “Our Food Justice Coalition believes Albany can truly be ‘The Good Life City’ if we make healthier food choices, increase our physical activity, and focus on wellness as individuals and community. Small changes bring big results when we rally together,” adds Alysia Cutting,
Rural Health Equity Director for SOWEGA Rising.
