Yellow Elephant delivers stockings to mothers in need
MOULTRIE, Ga. – The Yellow Elephant organization is spreading Christmas cheer to hard working mothers across Moultrie for it’s 2nd year in a row.
“We’ve seen on Facebook that a lot of moms talked about they always fill their own stocking, they just didn’t do it,” said Melissa Spires and Amanda Braswell, Volunteers, Yellow Elephant.
So, the Yellow Elephant organization wanted to make a change and knew they’d need a little help
“We’ve asked like our little businesses in our community, we’ve asked would you like to donate, we’ve asked people in the community and we use that money or product to fill the stockings with,” said Spires and Braswell.
Not to mention Amanda and Melissa will be delivering over 40 stockings this year.
“This year we’ll be delivering 47 total, we’ll be doing 20 from the community nomination, 20 for the hope house of their women, and we’re doing 7 for the Serenity House,” said Spires and Braswell.
Amanda Braswell says her experience as a volunteer has been an eye opening experience.
“It’s just very rewarding to be able to give to a mom because you know where the mom may be at yourself, so giving to me, is kinda seeing myself receiving, so I can relate to them,” said Spires and Braswell.
Being a mother sometimes can be a thankless job, the Yellow Elephant organization is making sure mothers in the community know their appreciated.
“Your loved cause sometimes you just need a hug and it’s not that your family doesn’t love you but a stranger coming up to you and saying hey. Your good, your worthy, your strong, and sometimes it’s just that from a stranger that picks you up out of that slump,” said Spires and Braswell.
