Worth Co. Sheriff: Operation “No Escape” by FBI, U.S. Marshals’ Office, local agencies results in arrest of 177 dangerous fugitives across Georgia

SYLVESTER, Ga. – Worth County Sheriff Donald Whitaker announced today the successful results of Operation No Escape, a six-week focused effort led by the FBI in partnership with the U.S. Marshals’ Office and local agencies. This coordinated statewide blitz targeted Georgia’s most dangerous fugitives, resulting in the capture of 177 offenders.

“Although our nation has made progress against violent crime, it remains a concern in too many of our communities—and those of us in law enforcement cannot rest while any Americans live in fear in their own homes or their own neighborhoods,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Atlanta Field Office.

“Here in Georgia, we aren’t standing idly by. We are addressing the surge in violent crime head-on through intelligence and partnerships. We promise: We will continue our work to disrupt violent gangs, drug organizations, and human traffickers whose criminal acts devastate families and communities. We want to make a lasting impact and make Georgia a safer place to live and work.”

Sheriff Whitaker emphasized that Operation No Escape was a statewide success and a local one. “Over the past several days, multiple individuals charged with violent crimes have been taken off the streets right here in Worth County. This operation is proof of what we can accomplish through strong partnerships and determination. Our citizens deserve to feel safe in their homes, and my office is committed to doing everything in our power to protect our community.”

Sheriff Whitaker extended his gratitude to the men and women of the Worth County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Albany Resident Agency, which is a satellite office of the Atlanta Field Office, for their tireless work. “The citizens of Worth County can rest assured that we will continue to stand firm against crime. Together, we are making Worth County, and all of Georgia, a safer place to live and work.”

Sheriff Whitaker added, “Your safety will always remain my top priority as your Sheriff. I will continue to work every day to ensure Worth County is a place where families feel secure and proud to call home.”
