Rain has returned and it’s here to stay through at least Sunday PM. Many communities have made the difficult but wise decision that Christmas parades and holiday festivities have been canceled, postponed, or rescheduled. Heavier bands of rainfall may set up on Friday & Saturday. Rainfall totals could reach 2″– 4″ with isolated locations receiving 6″+ by Sunday. It’s a stratiform precipitation event, which means rainfall rates will generally be low and combined with dry soil conditions and river levels running low, the flash flooding threat is low at this time, but there’s a Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall from the Weather Prediction Center. Watch for standing or ponding of water on area roadways. Turn around, don’t drown!
