Warming centers open across South Georgia ahead of extreme cold conditions

ALBANY, Ga. – The following is a list of cold weather relief/warming centers open across South Georgia ahead of extreme cold conditions:

This is a developing list and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Warming centers:

  • Albany Transit Center

    • 300 W. Oglethorpe Blvd.

    • On Saturday, the Warming Center will open at 2 p.m. and remain open until Monday, February 2nd, at 7 a.m.

    • The City of Albany will also be extending the Warming Center that is currently open evenings until Wednesday, February 4th to Monday, February 9th.

    • Open 6 p.m. – 7 a.m., Sunday, January 25 – Wednesday, February 4

    • Closed 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 30

  • Americus

    • Plains Baptist Church, 301 N. Bond St.

    • First Baptist Church, 221 S. Lee St.

    • Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St. (Open Wednesday and Thursday)

    • Friendship Baptist Church, 411 Cotton Ave.

  • Cook County
    • Cook County Senior Center, 303 South College Street, Sparks, GA

  • Cordele

    • Crisp County Recreation Department, 1205 5th St. N

    • Monday, January 26 at 6:00 p.m.

  • Coffee County
