Ward 1 city commission town hall meeting on mitigating the spread and prevention of West Nile Virus

ALBANY, Ga. – And, Commissioner Howard also spoke to us about a town hall meeting he’s planning on holding in his ward this weekend.

The Commissioner is hosting a town hall meeting Saturday morning to talk to members of the east Albany community about the West Nile Virus.

Cases of the virus have been reported in 30 states, including a half dozen in Georgia.

Howard says he wants to get out in front of this to help protect the older members of the community he serves.

“So, we like to tell individuals that we’ve seen an uptick in the West Nile Virus. When you go out, make sure you have those long sleeved shirts, make sure you have your mask on, things and nature, because mosquitoes usually like to bite in the morning and late in the afternoon,” said Commissioner Jon Howard, Ward 1, City of Albany.

The town hall meeting will take place this Saturday, August 31st at 210 Thornton Drive, and it’s open to the public.
