Walmart promotes health with Wellness Day event

ALBANY, Ga. – Walmart promotes community health with its Wellness Day event.

Over the weekend, Walmart welcomed the community to its first wellness day of 2025, encouraging residents to embrace healthier lifestyles with the motto, “New Year, New You.”

At Wellness Day, customers had access to a variety of free health screenings, including glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure checks.

Affordable immunizations, such as Flu and COVID-19 vaccines, were also available at nearly 4,600 pharmacies nationwide.

“We’re in January. Christmas just happened. A lot of people got together and now we’re seeing kind of an outbreak of the Flu. So mainly making sure people are getting their Flu shot as well as other immunizations that are kind of important around this time of the year, such as RSV and pneumonia and just making sure people are taking vitamins, supplements. We’re here to answer any questions that anyone might have,” said Jennifer Holbrook, Pharmacist, Albany Walmart.

Walmart distributed special wellness boxes to shoppers as they picked up their groceries, providing families an opportunity to engage with pharmacists on topics such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle and other health-related concerns.

“They have some free samples, as well as other information in there, such as coupons and other information just on your health. And, then, we’re also here to make sure, that anyone does have any questions about vaccines or want to know what vaccines they have or they might be eligible for, we can also look at that information as well,” said Holbrook.

Walmart aims to remind residents that in situations where they are unable to see their doctor, the pharmacy is always a reliable option for health support and resources.

“So, that’s the good thing about pharmacy, is we’re here all the time, such as sometimes you’re not able to get in touch with your doctor’s office when you have a cold or anything like that. So, yes, you can always come to us. Year round, we’re open every day. We are here to serve anyone Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 7 pm. On Sundays, we’re here from 10 am to 6 pm. We look forward to serving you with any need you might have, such as questions about any products over the counter, whether they’ll interact with the medications that you’re currently taking or if you just have overall questions about any of your symptoms,” said Holbrook.
