Veteran still wanted for terroristic acts; He is considered armed and dangerous

DCPD is asking the public's help in locating Caleb Fontaine

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. – A mentally ill man wanted for terroristic threats is on the run and the Dougherty County Police Department says he is armed and dangerous.

Deputy JC Phillips tells us more…

“Dispatch called for patrol division out to the address in the 4100 block of Fleming Road. It was a reference to a domestic violence. The young girlfriend of Mr. Fontaine called in saying he was acting erratic and pouring gasoline all over the property, a shed in particular. He threatened to burn up the property and the shed,” said Deputy Julius “JC” Phillips, DCPD Detective Division.

Phillips said 36-year-old Caleb Fontaine was medically discharged from the army and continues to suffer from mental health issues.

After the veteran made the threats, he proceeded to stab himself with a pocketknife, abstaining wounds to his legs, chest and stomach.

He fled the scene and is considered armed and dangerous.

“During the course of investigation we found out he did have a shotgun in the car. There were more guns in the house hold at one point. When the residents went to look for them they realized they weren’t there. So the assumption is he has multiple long rifles at this point” Phillips explained.

Fontaine fled the scene in a 2007 dark Pontiac Vibe. Phillips said the vehicle has an abundance of army stickers on it and an army tag with a plate number of FAE500.

DCPD has made hospitals and law enforcement departments in nearby areas aware of Fontaine and his condition but says the public should be aware too.

“If anyone in the public sees him, we ask that you don’t make contact with him just give us a call, let us know his whereabouts or which way you might see him traveling and we will follow up from there” Phillips said.

Deputy Phillips explained DCPD has received calls out to that residence before, but it was never anything to this extreme.

Again, if you encounter or see Fontaine, DO NOT approach, call DCPD at 229-430-6600.

CBS 44 will be sure to share an update as soon as it’s received.
