Vehicle found in connection to deadly hit-and-run in Colquitt Co.
COLQUITT Co., Ga. – The Georgia Department of Public Safety has located a vehicle in connection to a deadly hit-and-run that happened along Georgia State Route 133 in Colquitt County on Saturday night, October 18th.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said the crash happened at approximately at 8:57 p.m. near Mike Horne Road. Troopers responded to the scene where a Mercury vehicle, traveling in northbound lane was struck from behind while attempting to turn into a private driveway, by possibly a Dodge Ram truck — either a 1500, 2500, or 3500 model, manufactured between 2019 and 2024. The truck is expected to have damage to the front bumper, grille, and passenger-side headlight area.
52-year-old Erik Kitchens, was transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is actively investigating the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact Troop G Communication Center at (229) 931-7000.
