Two Florida men face drug charges after Crisp Co. K-9 search, traffic stop

CORDELE, Ga. – At approximately 5:25 p.m. Thursday, a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop for tailgating at the 91 mile marker south on Georgia 401 I-75.

The driver’s lack of a valid license led to the deployment of a K-9 Unit. During a free-air sniff, the K-9 indicated a positive alert on the vehicle. A search yielded two 1-gallon bags filled with suspected methamphetamine, the presence of which was confirmed through a presumptive test.

36-year-old Casey Howard and 36-year-old Gary Baker, both from Vero Beach, Florida, were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Howard was additionally charged with following too closely and driving without a valid license.

Both suspects were arrested without resistance and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center.
