Two different murder active and ongoing investigations in Brooks county
GBI - Grandson charged with murder of his grandfather
BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. – On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, about 3:02 pm, Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey requested the assistance of the GBI with a murder that took place in the 100 Block of Burnette Road in Brooks County, Georgia. The victim has been identified as Edward Sapp who was shot and killed inside his residence. Sapp will undergo an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab.
Agents and a Crime Scene Specialist responded to partner with Brooks County Deputies on the scene. Allen Dale Rogers who lives next door to the victim and is his grandson, has been arrested in connection to Sapp’s death. Rogers who is 29 years old, has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. He was taken to the Brooks County Jail and booked on these charges. This case is active and ongoing. When complete, a copy of the case file will be provided to District Attorney Brad Shealy for prosecution. anyone with information about this case can call the GBI at 229-225-4090 or the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.Also, On May 22, 2023, about 1:33 pm, Quadarious Marquand Byrdsong was arrested in Lowndes County, Georgia on outstanding warrants out of Brooks County regarding the August 2020 murder of Cenquaz Perry. The GBI was initially requested by the Quitman Police Department to investigate Perry’s Murder. Byrdsong who is 24 years old, is the second person who has been arrested and charged in connection to Perry’s Murder.
Byrdsong after being wanted for several months on outstanding warrants was arrested in Lowndes County. He was then transferred to the Brooks County Jail where he was booked on the charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Four Counts of the Georgia Street Gang Act. This case is active and ongoing. Once complete, it will be provided to District Attorney Brad Shealy for prosecution.
