Turner Co. Sheriff’s Deputy involved in serious early morning accident
TIFTON, Ga. – In a somber development tonight… According to a Facebook post from Turner County Sheriff Andy Hester, a Turner County Deputy, Nikolous Herrick, was involved in a serious accident during a pursuit early Monday morning.
The pursuit began in Turner county and ended at the intersection of 8th Street and Love Avenue in Tifton. His vehicle was pinned under a semi-trailer.
The suspects fled their vehicle after it flipped about four to five blocks down from the deputy’s impact, grabbing two duffle bags and fleeing on foot.
Sheriff Hester said Deputy Herrick was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center conscious and alert, but in a lot of pain with a broken rib, broken arm, and broken bones in his face.
Deputy Herrick is currently in stable condition at a Macon hospital.
The sheriff’s office has assured that they will keep everyone updated on his condition as they receive updates.
