Tuesday morning fatal I-75 accident after woman struck by semi truck after falling out of car
CORDELE, Ga. – In a tragic development, at approximately 12:30 am Tuesday, law enforcement was called to an accident occurring in Crisp county on I-75 southbound around the 98 mile marker.
37-year-old Mary Anne Musslewhite of Arabi was said to have been hanging out the passenger side window with no seatbelt while the vehicle was driving southbound.
At some point, Musslewhite had fallen out of the passenger side window and came to rest in the middle lane. A tractor-trailer was approaching the area in the middle lane passing another tractor-trailer on his right not knowing there was anything on the road.
Once the tractor-trailer got closer to the area, the driver thought it was some debris, but then quickly realized that it was indeed a person.
At that point it was too late and the driver was unable to break, or swerve to avoid. Musslewhite was hit by the undercarriage of the tractor-trailer and shortly after was announced deceased.
The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Cordele Police Department assisted in clearing traffic from the interstate to exit 99 while Georgia State Patrol (GSP) took over the investigation.
