Today’s Weather Authority Forecast: March 15, 2021

Matthew Crumley Weather

The tranquil weather pattern is about to change. Spring-like warmth continues early this week, but not quite as warm as over the weekend. Albany hit 85° on Saturday and tied the record of 86° on Sunday set back in 1982. That was 14 degrees above normal!

Low 80s will be more common today. Moisture will increase across the area with patchy fog and possibly an isolated shower or t-storm tonight then a few scattered t-storms possible on Tuesday as a frontal boundary stalls across the region. Southerly flow continues through mid-week as a vigorous storm system approaches Wednesday-Thursday with the potential of strong-severe thunderstorms.

As of now SWGA is included in a Slight Risk of severe weather with the greatest threat coming late Wednesday-early Thursday afternoon. At this time the greatest and more significant risk of severe weather stays west over Alabama, Mississippi, and the Mid-South. All hazards are possible: damaging winds in excess of 60-70 mph, large hail, and a few tornadoes. A Weather Aware Day will likely be issued.

Prepare now by making sure you know where your safe room is, and that you have multiple reliable ways to receive watches/warnings including a NOAA Weather Radio. Do not rely on outdoor warning sirens.

Stay with the South GA TV Weather Authority I will keep you updated! Drier and cooler air arrives by end of the week-weekend.
