Today’s Weather Authority Forecast: March 11, 2022

Southga Weather

A WEATHER AWARE DAY has been issued and will be in effect from Friday morning 3/11/2022 through Saturday morning 3/12/2022.

There is an “ENHANCED RISK” of Severe Weather including damaging to destructive winds in excess of 60-70 mph, a few isolated tornadoes, one or two of which may become strong (EF 2+ 111 mph+), isolated large hail, and flash flooding.

There will be two rounds of storms. The first round arrives Friday morning-early afternoon as the stationary boundary begins to retreat to the north as a warm front.

Then, the final round of activity, a squall line, will be the heaviest, and has the greatest severe weather potential late Friday evening-early Saturday morning.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the southern counties along the GA/FL line until 11 AM Saturday morning.

Locally heavy rainfall with minor flooding of streets is possible.

Additional rainfall totals of 1″-3″ in a swath from north to south will be possible with a few locations receiving 4″+ possibly as much as 6″.

Old Man Winter returns with blustery north-northwesterly winds on Saturday behind the cold front.

Wind gusts could be as high as 30 to 40 mph.

Temperatures will tank throughout the day with wind chills in the 20s, falling into the upper teens Sunday morning along with a widespread killing freeze.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive watches/warnings over the next 24-36 hours!
