Tips on camera surveillance that can be useful for investigators

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Police Department wants to inform the public about useful tips that may help investigators when camera surveillance footage is available in your home or business. If you do wish to share your camera footage with us, they encourage that you:

• Have strong internet service
• Ensure that the date and time is correct
• Ensure the camera is working properly/in a location where footage can be caught
• Have an SD card if needed
• Pay your subscriptions
• Ensure that the camera isn’t in a dark area
• Ensure that your lenses are clean
• Have your code/passwords available to log in

You can also sign up with our Camera Registry Program through our app or go to www.connectalbanyga.org, which allows you to register your camera system’s location with our department. An investigator will contact you if a crime occurs in that specific location. This will help investigators solve crimes quicker! We want you to remember that we WILL NOT have access to your camera system unless you consent to give us the footage.
