Tifton’s Called to Care teaches Foster Care 101

TIFTON, Ga. – According to the Georgia Department of Human Services there are an estimated over 11,000 children in foster care, and Tifton’s called to care organization is teaching classes on how to become the best foster parent you can be.
“We found out that 85 percent of families get feel that they get called to foster adopt at some point, but they don’t know how to get that started,” said Laura Maxwell, founder of Called to Care.
In these foster care 101 classes potential foster parents will learn many skills.
“From babysitting to adoption and you’ll also learn things that are realities like fear and heartache,” she said.
The need for newborn foster parents is urgent.
“We have a lot of newborn babies, a lot them are drug addicted so someone that is a parent that could stay home and care for newborn babies,” she said.
Called to Care is willing to host a foster class in a location near you.
“If anyone’s watching this and wants to host Foster Care 101 in your church, in your Sunday school class, at your office… we would be more than happy to travel out and offer this class,” she said.
