Tifton Rotary Club welcomes new Tift Co. Schools Superintendent

TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Rotary Club welcomes the Tift County Schools Superintendent.

Residents gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn to join the Rotary Club for an insightful discussion led by Tift County Schools Superintendent Natalie Gore. During the event, gore addressed the current state of the school system and outlined strategic action steps being taken not only for the upcoming academic year but also for the long-term future of the district.

Since taking on her role on January 16th, Gore embarked on a comprehensive 90-day entry plan, engaging with over 500 individuals through various meetings and focus groups to better understand the community’s needs and priorities.

“For this current school year, we have three primary goals. One is leading through teaching that yields strong academic outcomes. One is leading for improved operational outcomes. And, one is communication to facilitate collaboration. And, we’re really just going to talk today about leading for improved teaching to increase student outcomes,” said Natalie Gore, Tift Co. Schools Superintendent.

Superintendent Natalie Gore delivered an in-depth presentation highlighting key aspects of the education system, including crucial areas such as teacher and staff recruitment and retention, competitive compensation, and student literacy rates.

She underscored the school board’s commitment to fostering growth and development within both the schools and the broader community.

“The Board understands that we have some needs that exist within the school system, that ultimately are impacting the community now and will impact the community in the future. And, the Board is very willing to prioritize our budget and our spending to address those needs, fill those gaps and make sure that we have the resources that we need to be able to continue to increase student success. And, our Board is committed to transparency and accountability. They recognize that the strengthened stability of the community is determined by the strength and stability of the school system. The school system helps attract business and industry. The school system helps to produce students who are good, caring adults and citizens who are going to return to the community and contribute as future business leaders, future service industry workers, future health care workers,” said Gore.

Above all, the school system relies heavily on the continued support of the community.

“Our teachers and staff are collaborating to learn so that we can achieve. One of the things Toni (Reid) had asked me was, what is it that our community can do? And, I would say one of the things that our community could do is, rally around us and help support the literacy efforts. We will be having a second follow up meeting, and if anybody’s interested in attending that, to start to develop a community wide support plan to support literacy efforts; we would love it if folks would like to join us for that to help develop a plan that leverages the community partners that we have to help pour into our kids to help improve our literacy rate,” said Gore.
