Tift Regional’s bariatric surgery program earns special accreditation
Tifton, GA – [10-9-25] – Tift Regional Medical Center’s bariatric weight loss surgery program received accreditation under the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
A comprehensive, nationwide surgical quality program, MBSAQIP is designed to ensure the safe and effective performance of metabolic and bariatric surgery.
“We are proud to have achieved this special accreditation,” said Paul Cartwright, MD, ABOM, DABS-FPMBS, board-certified bariatric surgeon with Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) and South Georgia Surgical. “The accreditation process included a comprehensive review of the hospital’s infrastructure, surgical procedures, staff qualifications, and patient outcomes. The hospital successfully met stringent criteria, affirming that TRMC adheres to best practices and rigorous patient safety standards.”
As an MBSAQIP-accredited hospital, TRMC also becomes an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. Being a Surgical Quality Partner signifies a hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches.
“ACS Quality programs are grounded in more than a century of experience and participation is an important measure of a hospital’s surgical quality,” said ACS Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS. “As an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, Tift Regional Medical Center has shown a commitment providing the best possible patient care, evaluating that care in a rigorous fashion, and dedicating themselves to continuous self-improvement.”
Dr. Cartwright stated that patients seeking surgical treatment for obesity and its related conditions have a high-quality choice in TRMC.
“Thanks to all of our team members for working hard to earn this accreditation and for always striving to provide the best possible care,” he said.
