Tift Co. Schools appoints interim school superintendent

TIFTON, Ga. – In their October 10th meeting, the Tift County Board of Education unanimously appointed Dr. Jerry Baker as interim superintendent for Tift County Schools.

With over 25 years of executive leadership experience, Dr. Baker most recently served as Pro-Vost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at ABAC until his retirement in 2022.

Dr. Baker began his duties immediately, starting with a warm welcome to staff members in grades 6 – 12 during their “Building Blue Chip Talent” system conference day. He spent the rest of the day collaborating with system and school administrators, focusing on inspiring student learning through an inclusive approach involving all stakeholders.

The Tift County Board of Education will promptly initiate the search for a new superintendent.
