Thursday closures due to severe weather
ALBANY, Ga. – Road Closure:
On Thursday, June 15, 2023, crews will close the westbound lanes of Devon Drive and 2706 Shannon Road to pump water from the overflowing ditch lines.
These areas will be closed until the rain subsides.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid these areas until crews have cleared the roadways.
ASU Athletics Golf Classic Postponed:
The ASU Athletics Golf Classic scheduled for Friday, June 16 is postponed. The Flint River Municipal Golf Course officials have advised that several holes are not playable due to inclement weather.
Information regarding the rescheduled date will be forthcoming.
Albany Technical College (ATC):
From Bobby Ellis, Director of Marketing and Public Relations:
Albany Technical College campus locations will close at 12 noon today through tomorrow (6/16). The college will recognize Juneteenth holiday on Monday (6/19) and will be closed. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday (6/20).
Dougherty County:
From Wendy Howell, PIO, Dougherty Co. Government:
The north west library branch is closed today due to HVAC issues. Also, our Landfill is closed until further notice due to hazardous weather conditions and safety concerns.
Dougherty County Schools:
The district has been monitoring the weather and the approaching thunderstorms. With student safety in mind, we are canceling all after-school activities for today including all extended day services. Dismissal will take place as scheduled. Staff have been instructed, however, to shelter in place at the school if there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning during dismissal until the all-clear is given.
Chehaw Park & Zoo:
The Zoo will be closed today due to the prospect of inclement weather. We will resume normal business hours tomorrow, weather permitting.
Decatur County Health Department is closed due to power outages.
