Thomas Tank Engine Arrives for June Event at Georgia Veterans State Park

CORDELE, Ga. – Thomas the Tank Engine will soon be arriving at Veterans State Park in Cordele from the Island of Sodor. The SAM Shortline Excursion train is the only Georgia railroad to host the little blue engine during Day Out With Thomas.
Day Out with Thomas is a trade name licensed by Mattel for the events that feature engines decorated to look like characters from the popular long-running classic British children’s television series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. In the show and in illustrated books, Thomas lives on the make-believe island of Sodor. The fictional, strong-willed engine wants to be useful on the Sodor Railway and the railway manager, Sir. Topham Hatt and other engine friends help him out. The engine has become a role model for children around the world. Thomas was introduced to American kids in 1989 as part of the Public Broadcasting System series “Shining Time Station.”
This year’s “Color Tour” will celebrate the magic and beauty of color on June 3 & 4, 10 & 11, and 17 &18, in Georgia Veterans State Park.
The fun-filled, family experience includes an interactive train ride that earns passengers a Color Badge to say Hello to Sir Topham Hatt and get creative exploring the Color Corner. Fans will also be able to snap photos with Thomas, who will be adorned with colorful paint splats.
There is all-day access to activities, including putt-putt golf, bouncy houses, live entertainment, Play Pod Station, food trucks, model train displays, a hay bale maze, and so much more! Little railroaders will also want to stop by the pop-up gift shop for exclusive Thomas swag.
