Theatre Albany tees off for its debut golf tournament fundraiser
ALBANY, Ga. – Joining the world of birdies and eagles, Theatre Albany tees off their golf tournament fundraiser with a unique fusion of arts and sports.
With a steadfast commitment to preserving and advancing the performing arts, Theatre Albany is proud to debut its golf tournament at the River Pointe Golf Club. Unifying members of the community who share a passion for either golf, theatre, or both.
“We thought it was a good idea just to get our name out there. A lot of people in this area don’t really know about Theatre Albany. So, I thought what a better way to get our name out there than to do a golf tournament and everybody likes to play golf! We have the furthest drive on one hole, we have a thing called ‘red bomb’, which is from a 17 par 4, you get to tee off on the red tees. The money is going to go towards improvements for the building, the theatre itself, and also four our plays as we go along,” said Sterling Bowles, Theatre Albany, treasurer.
The esteemed cultural institution stands as a paragon of artistic expression in the heart of Albany, renowned for its dedication to producing and promoting high-quality theatre accessible to all members of the community.
Theatre Albany’s general manager, Justin Neil, offers insight into upcoming shows and community engagement opportunities.
“We already finished our first season opener, which was “Something Rotten.” The next one we are going to pick up with, its gonna be in January, we are doing Frozen Jr. We always do a junior production every season. This one is going to be grades 5th -12th. And, we always do one non-musical a year. This one is going to be Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap,” the big classic murder mystery. We are finishing up this season with the Sondheim classic, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” A little bit of a spookier, darker, cooler, musical,” said Justin Neil, Theatre Albany, general manager.
And, if you’re interested, you should stay vigilant for theatre Albany’s holiday season flash sales.
“Besides that, we have finished our season subscriptions for the year already, which can get you eight tickets you can spread out throughout the entire season however you need. But, we usually do try to do some kind of big flash sale during the holidays to drum up some more business, and so we’ll probably open those up again, sometime around the holiday season. So, just be on the lookout for that,” said Neil.
