The Anchorage to open new recovery treatment facility for women

LEESBURG, Ga. – A local treatment center is expanding their reach to help people. And we got a quick look at the plans for a new facility they’re planning to open next year.

For Anchorage director, Bob Lynch, a new facility geared exclusively towards helping women dealing with substance abuse has been on the backburner for years.

“We’re going to be building a treatment center for women out there, for 40 women. This has been kind of a long time plan and we hope to complete it by year’s end, of 2025,” said Bob Lynch, Exec. Dir., The Anchorage.

And, now after years of planning, they’ve started work on a recovery home for those women.

“It’s very affordable for the woman off the street that needs help or a woman that maybe has, you know, had some problems with the law. But, you know, they’ve been mostly drug related and things like that. To help get them, you know, get them the treatment they need and hopefully the help to get them started again in life,” said Lynch.

The start of the home’s construction comes at a perfect time, as Bob tells us how busy The Anchorage has been.

“We get calls almost daily. I got one this morning looking for facility for women. They think we have women here also. So, yeah, we’re really looking forward to the expansion, the opportunity to provide for people here. Women in this community are in desperate need of treatment,” said Lynch.

And, for them to potentially be less than a year away from opening the doors to this new facility feels like a long time coming.

“We really started the project. We didn’t want to talk about it for five years and then build it so this is really where we’re at at this point,” said Lynch.

Bob says that while anchorage continues to work on building the new facility, they’re going to need volunteers once it’s finally open.
