DEA community dance party at Thronateeska

ALBANY, Ga. – It seems to be a boogie wonderland at the Thronateeska Heritage Center as the DEA Educational Foundation hosts a community dance party.

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, the DEA Educational Foundation partnered with the Thronateeska Heritage Center hosted the “Dance Out Drugs” community dance party at Thronateeska.

“The DEA Educational Foundation works in over 70 cities across the United States. We haven’t done any programming here in Albany and we’re so excited that we were invited to partner with the Artesian Alliance to do this event in partnership with the DEA exhibit. I really hope people will check out the museum, check out the DEA Educational Foundation, and I hope we are able to make a lasting impact here in Albany,” said Kiera Anderson, DEA Educational Foundation Youth Program Consultant.

“Our mission at the DEA Educational Foundation is to provide the public with education and prevention programing and really let them know what the dangers are of drug use and abuse,” said Anderson.

“We have dance, we have different sporting activities, martial arts, and art. It’s just about giving the kids a positive outlet. Teaching them how to take care of their bodies, how to take care of their mental health, and just giving them something fun to do in those critical after school hours,” said Anderson.
