Sylvester-Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce & Farmers Ag Committee hosts annual Farmers Appreciation Dinner

SYLVESTER, Ga. – Worth County hosted a special dinner to honor and appreciate local farmers for their contributions to the community.

Organized by the Farmers Ag Committee and the Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce, the annual event featured free food, awards, and over $1,000 in door prizes.

“Well, this is our Annual Farmers Appreciation Dinner. The chamber sponsors that to recognize the farmers, our community, the farming is the backbone of our community. It’s the lifeblood of our county. And, we appreciate our farmers. And, we do this to recognize. Well, farmers are a group that don’t get a lot of recognition for what they do, but they feed this nation, and it’s such an important part of our economy. We want to recognize them for that,” said Johnny Bryan, Vice Chairman, Sylvester-Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce.

Thanks to multiple sponsors, this event was made possible. As guests enjoyed chicken and BBQ, awards were presented for Senior Farmer of the Year, Young Farmer of the Year, and Conservationist of the Year, with each recipient receiving a commemorative plaque.

But… beyond the awards, the night was about bringing farmers together to share ideas, celebrate their hard work, and enjoy well-earned recognition.

“They are the backbone to everything. Everything you touch, everything you eat. A farmer has done so. So, we are very thankful for them. We’re thankful for our school system, for helping to produce young farmers. And, our goal is to also raise money to get scholarships with the Ag Committee. So, that we can help produce more future farmers,” said Kayla Myers, President, Sylvester-Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to this year’s award winners and door prize recipients. And, to the farmers of South Georgia, thank you for all you do, year after year.
