Sylvester-Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce cuts ribbon on new Georgia State Patrol Post 40

SYLVESTER, Ga. – The Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce successfully held a ribbon cutting ceremony for new Gorgia State Patrol (GSP) Post 40.

The new building replaces aging facility in Dougherty County.

“Today, July 8, 2025, we proudly celebrated the Ribbon Cutting and Dedication of the new Georgia State Patrol Post 40, Worth — a major milestone for our region and a powerful step forward in public safety and service.”

“The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Captain Tommy Peeples, followed by a heartfelt invocation from Lieutenant Mike Carter. The GSP Honor Guard presented the flag, and Fred Hall gave a beautiful performance of the National Anthem.”

“Remarks were shared by Chairman Fred Dent and Sheriff Don Whitaker, and Colonel Billy Hitchens gave the final acknowledgments on behalf of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.”

“The Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce was honored to host the ribbon cutting as we celebrated this incredible addition to our county and surrounding areas.”

“The ceremony concluded with a benediction from Chief Craig Tully, wrapping up a day full of pride and community spirit.”

“Post 40 will be home to 12 Georgia State Troopers, who will serve Baker, Dougherty, Lee, and Worth Counties, ensuring a stronger, safer region for us all.”

“This project was made possible through the leadership of the Worth County Board of Commissioners, who not only funded the construction but also managed the entire building process, with labor provided by the Department of Corrections. Their commitment and investment in the safety of our community made this day a reality.”

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out today. The level of community support was truly inspiring, and we are grateful to be part of such a united and supportive county.”
