Sweet T’s Food Truck catches fire at Turner Co. High career fair event
ASHBURN, Ga. – A Turner county business is reeling following a fire early this afternoon.
What should have been a normal career fair here on the campus of Turner County High turned dangerous.
The catering truck for the Turner county based business, Sweet T’s caught fire just before noon.
You can see in the video we recorded that the fire is coming from the back of the truck, engulfing the businesses’ smoker in flames.
Thankfully, first responders were on the scene within minutes as they managed to get most of the staff out of the truck as the smoke engulfed the parking lot.
We spoke with Police Chief Richard Purvis shortly following the fire about the cause and the quick nature of the fire.
“The good thing is Turner County EMS, Turner County Fire, Ashburn Fire, Ashburn PD, Turner County Sheriff’s Office was already there at the career fair. So, we had a real good response time, and we were able to coordinate getting the victim some help,” said Chief Richard Purvis, Ashburn Police Department.
We also spoke with Turner County EMS on site as well, and they say that one Sweet T’s employee has been medevacked by helicopter for burns.
That one employee is also being checked for smoke inhalation damage, according to Chief Purvis.
