Sunshine Coffee Co. & Kelly Street Market grand openings in downtown Sylvester
SYLVESTER, Ga. – The city of Sylvester is excited to announce an addition of two new special locations for residents and visitors to enjoy, Sunshine Coffee Co. and Kelly Street Market.
“We live in Doerun and there is a little building on the corner of our street where we live. We were walking past it one day. We had just moved down there back from Columbus, Georgia. We thought to ourselves that it would be super cute for a coffee shop to be right there, because Doerun didn’t really have anything down there. Laquita, she came into the coffee shop and told us about this market here and how they’ve been looking for some sort of coffee shop to come in,” said Ember Gardener, Sunshine Coffee Co., Co-Owner.
“It was all Lisa’s vision. Lisa had brought me in and said, you’ve got to see this building. You’ve really got to look at it. And, we both fell in love with the building. It was in poor shape and needed a lot of renovations. And, it was a labor of love to bring it back to life,” said Laquita Stanley, Kelly Street Market, Co-Owner.
“And, I couldn’t have thought of a better partner to go into business with. So, we had a great time doing it,” said Lisa Davis, Kelly Street Market, Co-Owner.
Both businesses provide a unique shopping experience, offering something for everyone.
“We do frozen coffees, hot coffees, iced coffees, any flavors you could possibly imagine? We do also sell non coffee drinks such as smoothies, refreshers. We have breakfast and lunch. There’s a little bit of something for everybody, no matter what time of day you’re looking for food,” said Forest Handfield, Sunshine Coffee Co., Co-Owner.
“We also have homemade scratch biscuits. Oh yeah, that was really big in Doerun, and we carried that on over here,” said Saylor Flowers, Sunshine Coffee Co., Co-Owner.
“We have everything from home decor to reading glasses to local entrepreneurs with art such as Alan Copeland. He’s one of our local artists here. Rhonda Griffin. We have a PA that’s offering services such as Botox, weight loss consulting. And, we have another lady that is doing eyebrows,” said Davis.
These grand openings serve as a testament to the ongoing development of downtown Sylvester.
“Why not Sylvester? I mean, we have a wonderful downtown area, walkable downtown, a lot of shops, a lot of potential for a lot of business owners that could expand or bring new businesses,” said Davis.
“Yes, our business hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and then 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. And, we do call in all ahead. We do deliveries. I think the only day we don’t do deliveries is on Saturdays,” Flowers.
“Taken lots and lots of hard work and effort and hours of sleepless nights and just trying to sort of teach ourselves new skill sets that we had never known before. We don’t come from a business background, but we do come from a place of following your dreams, and we come from a place of believing that whatever you want to do is within reach and the tools are out there. You just have to trust that the people and the resources will all show up at the right time. And, in our case, that’s exactly what happened,” said Handfield.
