Standoff ends after suspect barricaded themselves inside a residence following shooting of 2 Tifton officers

TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Police Department, with aid of surrounding law enforcement agencies and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), have successfully apprehended the suspect in relation to the shooting incident that occurred this morning near the 800 Block of Lee Ave.

This situation is now considered under control. Law enforcement personnel remained on the scene, as this situation is an active investigation. GBI will take over the investigation going forward.

This incident occurred in response to TPD’s attempt to execute a search warrant Friday morning.

In an effort to execute the warrant, two TPD Officers were shot and are in stable condition.

The suspect had barricaded themselves in a home near the 800 block of Lee Ave.

TPD, along with nearby law enforcement agencies, worked diligently to control the situation.
