Sowega Council on Aging celebrates Active Aging Week

ALBANY, Ga. – In celebration of Active Aging Week, the Sowega Council on Aging (SCOA) will host an open house Monday, October 6, through Thursday, October 9, from 9 am to noon each day at the SCOA Regional Resource Center, 335 W. Society Ave., Albany, GA. Active Aging Week is an annual campaign launched by the International Council of Active Aging to promote the benefits of healthy aging and lifestyles.

During the event, attendees can participate in free wellness activities, explore fitness classes and enjoy refreshments while learning more about the activities and mission of SCOA.

Izzie Sadler, Executive Director of SCOA, highlights the importance of this initiative, saying, “Active Aging Week is all about empowering our seniors to live life to the fullest. Staying active improves mental, physical and emotional well-being. At SCOA, we are committed to providing the resources and opportunities to help seniors maintain their independence and vitality.”
