Sowega Council on Aging announces search for new Area Agency on Aging Director

ALBANY, Ga. — The Sowega Council on Aging (SCOA) has launched a search for an experienced and mission-driven professional to serve as its next Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Director. This senior leadership role oversees agency operations, programs and grants that support older adults and individuals with disabilities across Southwest Georgia.

The AAA Director will guide a regional network of services that includes case management, caregiver support, nutrition services and community-based programs that help people live independently at home. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in organizational leadership, grant management and aging or human services, as well as a passion for serving older adults.

This transition comes as Executive Director Izzie Sadler prepares for retirement this summer after 14 years of service.

“It has been an honor to lead such a mission-driven organization and to work alongside a community that cares deeply about aging with dignity,” said Sadler. “And now we need a champion to step into a critical leadership position. We are seeking a passionate operations-focused leader who will help carry this important work forward.”

The AAA Director will work from SCOA headquarters in Albany and serve residents in a 14-county region. As the designated Area Agency on Aging, SCOA manages state and federal aging services funding and collaborates with local partners to provide programs that improve safety, independence and quality of life.

 Qualified applicants should:

  • Demonstrate experience in organizational leadership and program management
  • Understand state and federal grant administration
  • Show a commitment to aging services or disability services or community-based care
