South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: September 23, 2025

Hottest day of the week on hump day with increasing humidity levels. Heat indices may approach 100° in the afternoon. Scattered showers and t’storms arrive late Thursday into early portions of the day Friday. A Marginal Risk (level 1/5) of severe weather exists on Thursday for an isolated rouge storm capable of producing gusty to damaging wind, heavy torrential downpours, and frequent lightning. Beneficial rainfall is welcomed, but with generally light rain totals (between 0.5″-1″), widespread, drought-busting rainfall is not expected. Seasonably cooler weekend with highs in the 80s & lows in the 60s.

In the tropics, Gabrielle remains a Major Hurricane as it accelerates towards the Azores where a Hurricane Watch is in effect, then towards Portugal and Spain as an extra-tropical system. Elsewhere, two Invests have been designated and are areas to watch by NHC. Invest 93-L (right) located east of the Lesser Antilles over the central Atlantic has a High Chance of development as it approaches western Atlantic and possibly Bermuda in the coming days. Invest 94-L (left) located near the northern Leeward Islands will move towards SW Atlantic, Turks and Caicos Islands, and southern Bahamas later this week where it has a Medium Chance a tropical depression may form. Interests in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Bahamas should monitor the progress of this system. Humberto and Imelda are the next names on the list.
