South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: September 16, 2025

Another nice evening with comfortably low humidity and cool temperatures. Milder mornings, warmer afternoons and an uptick in the humidity levels. Sunshine along with a few fair weather clouds dominates for the rest of the week into the weekend. Abnormally dry conditions cover about 50% of SWGA. Albany, GA hasn’t seen any measurable rainfall in 17 days and counting (.27″ on August 30th). September is running the top 10 driest and a deficit for the month (-2.07″) & for the year (-3.46″). Flash drought or rapid onset of drought conditions is possible. Water your lawns, gardens, and crops awaiting to be harvested. Be extremely cautious as outdoor burning is not advised. 7 days until Fall officially arrives with the Autumnal Equinox, September 22 at 2:19 pm.

In the tropics, (Invest 92-L) is likely to become a tropical depression or tropical storm (soon-to-be Gabrielle) as it tracks westward over the central Atlantic bypassing the eastern Caribbean Islands with a turn towards the north near or just east of Bermuda. On its heels, another tropical wave that has emerged off the west coast of Africa has a low chance of slow possible development in the coming days during the latter part of the week. Interesting stat: the last time the Atlantic basin had no storms between August 28th – September 15th was 86 years ago in 1939.
