South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: October 28, 2025

A frontal passage brings a fast-moving band of light rain showers tomorrow afternoon. Breezy winds Thursday ushers in the coldest air mass of season so far for trick-or-treaters on Halloween and for “fall back” time change weekend. Another frontal system or Gulf low pressure forms that may bring beneficial rainfall to the area early next week.

Major Hurricane Melissa made landfall earlier this afternoon in southwestern Jamaica near New Hope with estimated maximum sustained winds of 185 mph and estimated pressure of 892 mb. Melissa remains a powerful Category 4 hurricane as it emerges from the northern coast of western Jamaica. Damaging winds, catastrophic flash flooding, and life-threatening storm surge continues in Jamaica. A secondary landfall is expected later tonight over southeastern Cuba then into the southern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos on Wednesday. A Hurricane Watch has been issued for Bermuda.
