South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: October 27, 2025
Dreary and damp conditions with areas of patchy drizzle possible tonight. Overcast sky holds tomorrow with cool afternoon highs in the 60s. Next frontal passage brings a batch of showers on Wednesday. Below average temperatures take over for trick-or-treaters on Halloween into the “fall back” time change weekend. Patchy frost in wind-protected areas may be possible on Saturday.
Monstrous Major Hurricane Melissa has reached a record intensity of Category 5 with 175 mph maximum sustained winds and minimum central pressure of 906 millibars. Melissa is the strongest hurricane ever to hit Jamaica surpassing that of Gilbert on September 12th, 1988 which peaked as a Category 4 with 130 mph max winds and 960 mb pressure. NHC says the NOAA Hurricane Hunters aborted one of their earlier missions this morning after encountering severe turbulence in the SW eyewall. Melissa is now moving northwestward and Warnings have been issued for the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos. Catastrophic and life-threatening winds, flooding, and storm surge are expected on Jamaica tonight and early Tuesday.
